An important thing
to realize about a faux finish is that it entails more than simply
sponging paint onto a wall. A true faux finish is meant to be an
illusion that the wall is made of a different material, using paint to
obtain that effect. Obtaining depth in the color requires a series of
steps, involving various tools, techniques and color enhancements.
This unique color
in a dining area brings out the tones in the fine wood. Leaving the
trim a creamy white color not only beautifully frames the windows, but
also ties in the creamy white carpeting.
The initial fuschia
color was applied by two people, one to apply the color, the other to
texture it. We used recycled bags, giving the paint an aged effect.
After drying, the color was enhanced with a raw umber finish to further
the effect of aging.
